Are Ready Made Draperies Much Good?
Posted by Estella,
We’re replacing the curtains in several rooms in our house, but we don’t want to break the bank doing so. Ready made draperies seem like a good way to save some money on new window treatments, but I’m not sure how well they’re going to work. Do they come in standard sizes? If so, are most windows going to fit those sizes? While we want to save money, we don’t want drapes that look like they don’t really fit the windows. I guess the best option is going to be to have a window treatment store come and give us a quote, and tell us whether these drapes are going to work for us.
If I were to get new curtains for our house, I’d probably go the custom route personally. We bought ready-made draperies a few years ago, and while they aren’t that bad I think I’d prefer them to look like they were made to fit our windows specifically.
Have you thought about making your own drapes? You can buy fabric to measure so it fits your windows properly. If you’ve got some basic sewing skills, it’s really not that hard to do it yourself.
We bought off-the-shelf drapes for our house a couple of years ago and they look great. As long as your windows aren’t really odd shapes or sizes, you should be able to find drapes that will fit just fine.
